About David J. Toman
I am a photographer because I love photography. I am a people photographer because I go out of my way to ensure that you have a great experience and love the pictures we create together. It’s my job to put you, your brand and your business in the best light to help you succeed.
I am available to work at your place of business or home, on location, or at my studio, conveniently located in downtown Berkeley, CA.
Fun Facts About Me
- I started out my professional career in photography as a sports photojournalist, a natural outgrowth of an extensive background in endurance sports.
- I spent the majority of my adult life living in Taiwan. I still dream in Mandarin.
- I didn’t know there was such thing as a New York accent until I went away to college and someone almost died laughing when I noted they had a “kawf.” I also say “kawfee.”
- My mom got me into jazz music. I dabble in piano, but play the stereo much better. I also enjoy 80’s pop, but jazz easily dominates my record collection (remember records?).
- When I repatriated to the US in 2016 I had to think extra hard about how to work in English, as I’d only directed my subjects in Chinese.
- I’m an analog soul in a digital world, and love to shoot and develop film.
- I’m a podcaster and YouTuber.
